Here at Equestrian Fibres we produce synthetic fibres for arenas and gallops alike.  We are more than a recycling company; we are at the fore front of equestrian surfaces technology.  With over 25 years experience in the science of surfaces, we know the ideal surface will provide the perfect amount of shock absorbent, minimising the concussion during the landing phase, providing support during the loading phase, and the returning of energy back to the horse in preparation for the final push off phase.  With this in mind the surface you choose will affect your horses performance.  When your horses hoof lands, it comes into contact with the ground at a stop, sliding forwards into the surface as it does so.  The movement and redistribution of weight causes compression between the bones and the joints in the leg.  The impact of landing causes shock waves to travel up the leg, and these waves need to be evenly distributed to avoid a hard and potentially harmful landing.  In the loading phase the entire hoof makes contact with the ground and carries the full weight of both the horse and the rider.  The fetlock, flexor and suspensory tendons have to create a shock absorbing effect, whilst increased pressure accumulates under the frog, which stimulates blood circulation through the hoof.  The weight in the loading phase will vary depending on the movements of the horse such as landing from a jump, extended trot or galloping.  During the final rollover and push off phase, the heel rotates off the ground, rolling over the tow to push off into the next stride.
